Went to fiji

Published by F4J under Travel

Stayed at one of these things.

Drank a bunch of Kava.

Saw some islanders.

One with downs…dude could dance.

Saw a dog.

Went on a ship.

Had some food.

Saw the sun.

On an island.

Water was pretty clear. Went snorkeling over a bunch of reefs.

Near uninhabited islands.

Saw some flowers.

Another village dog.

…and swam in a pool.

Yippi doodle.

Notes:

Virgin/Pacific blue - Not a good airline.

First they asked us to be there a minimum for two hours early. it was a 6am flight.

We got there at 3am. First in line woo.

line.GIF

Around 4am, with about two hundred people lined up after us I call their contact number. The check in opens at 04:30. Right.

***

So at about 04:50 a few of their staff finally wander in.

One at each side of the now huge line in the middle.

line2.GIF

They announced. “Anyone flying internationally needs to go to desk x on the right” (dispite out tickets clearly stating we had to go where we were)

Ended up in the middle on the line…had to wait in that line for another hour. The plane was then late as they only had two staff on check in.

* Upon sitting in both planes, there and back I imediatly had them leak condensation on me.

* Exit seating is not worth the extra $50.

* The most recycled air ever.

* Another delay on the way back…no attendants, had to wait for their plane to arrive.

Entrance garden story: http://www.prettyfar.com/?p=392

It was a mess, but cleaned up nice.

The punchline is the little fence in the background, between me on the left and my neighbor on the right….turns out the foundation was crap, and the wall sank and was leaning against my neighbors garage wall. Serious structural damage.

In 2006.

Two years before I bought it.

So the neighbor approached the owner of my house, to have it repaired as the cause is pretty clear. The owner of my house refused to pay, and the neighbor took her to court. The owner of my house dodged it for almost the whole time but finally lost right before I bought the house.

I bought the house in January, and neither the agent of owner disclosed it. My contract actually states, specifically that the property is not subject to or affected by any legal action.  Also the neighbor approached the agent, while I was in the house inspecting it at the open day,to make sure the agent told whoever buys it the story and of the impending demolition and construction work.

I found out about three weeks back, the neighbor mentioned booking contractors in passing.

I had to dig up my plants. Hopefully I can save them.

So pissed off, and I cant do anything.

Neighbor - Super nice, didn’t do anything wrong.
Agent - Can just deny knowing.
Original owner - The neighbor spent thousands of dollars and two years to deal with the original issue. I have no chance.

Builders everywhere, noise, mess, garden ballsed. + I’ve spent the last three days sleeping on the floor and the dog pissed on the bed and onto the mattress.

Conclusion to follow.

Random doodles.

I’ve been tooling around in the garden on and off. Time to post a few more pics I think.

New garden bed.
poop
$10 for wood.
$4 for horse poop. They sell horse poop on the side of the road.
$0 for some old cardboard, its to kill the grass.

I have some soil and other crap mixed in and I’m part way through building a frame, not pictured.

root
Carrots and onions.
I probably planted too many seeds, I’m still learning.

tomatoes
Tomatoes.
I planted these a bit early, and they have had bad luck with the dog (pre-fence) and a few frosts. Might be ok though.

pear
Pear tree is starting to blossom.

poo-tate-o-s
I’m also trying to grow potatoes in the row of planters. Not much action yet.
The dirt hill (from my path project) I’d decided will stay, might even put in a pond. Dunno. Oh and the Water tank project worked, its over half full now.

In other news.

* Sort of looking forward to Fiji, I’m pretty poor as crack-ho lost her job recently. Whatever though, it seems pretty cheap and I already have tickets.
* Muffy the dog is still a murdering retard. hobbies include eating cat shit and throwing up on the bed.
* Work is sort of unshitting itself again, looks like I’ll be getting two more free certificates.

* Ben. Freaking Ben. Is having a child.
Ben.
Child.

When I try and picture it, all I see is a black van with tinted windows rather than childbirth.

I tried to clean my stove last week, bench top, gas.
Its one of the ones where you turn the knob and it goes tick tick tick and lights itself.

I cleaned it up really nicely, it hadnt been done in awhile.
I pulled the I pulled the knobs off and cleaned under them carefully with a slightly damp cloth, I had to scrub a bit it get the dried stuff up.

I put the handles back on and admired my work..

Then I noticed the sound.

Exectricity.

I look around and realise its comming from under one of the knobs.

BANG.

Lights out. Carbon shoots out from under the knob.

I remove it and make sure its dry, no dig deal.
I even turn the gas on (lighter) and let the burners run for a bit to be sure.

I wander back outside.
Reset the fuse.

I go back inside.

BANG.

I try again to make sure its try. Burners, hair dryer, the whole bit.
I reset the Fus…BANG.

So I unplug it under the cabinet and leave it be for a week.

I then go under the cabinet and turn it back on.

BANG.
BANG.

The second bang was my head while flinching.

TLDR - Ruined my stove while cleaning. Sad.

Going to Fiji. Woot.

Published by F4J under Travel

I’ve been waiting for the jew to confirm his court status (dont ask) and putting off buying my plane tickets for a few months now.

Looks like he’ll be in and out of court until early next year and thus cant travel. Pitty, it would have been great for him.

After searching for the last week. Fiji is the cheapest possible option apart from NZ.

Reservation Status: CONFIRMED

Blue Saver Promo $ 470.00 AUD
Blue Saver Promo $ 470.00 AUD
1 Credit Card fee $ 18.18 AUD
4 Blue Zone Long Flight $ 180.00 AUD
Bsecure comprehensive pacific 0-15 day $ 56.00 AUD
Bsecure comprehensive pacific 0-15 day $ 56.00 AUD
Taxes $ 437.48 AUD
Total price $ 1,687.66 AUD

Not bad, for two people return, extra legroom, insurance and under budget too, I only wanted to spend about 1k on the flight itself.

“My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember the Road Warrior. The man we called ‘Max’.

To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time. When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men.

On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything. And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again…”

Sometimes I miss my old car. Being feared on the road was… Interesting.

Staying at my job. Feeling good about the offers I did get though, even though none of them could offer me 14 days a month off.

Besides, I’d miss out in being able to do stuff like this at work.

I also have 20+ days off at the end of the year, I probably wouldn’t get a holiday either.
