It was rough, I watched the whole thing though. Twice.

Desk owner has been sick for the last few days. Will he be pissed, will he smile?

Will HR and OH&S and the union get involved?

Will I ever learn my lesson?

All valid questions.

I’ve always sort of wanted a server rack for my stuff. Enough to go look at them at auction, enough to bid, not enough to pay 500+ dollars (for the cheapest ones) and then pay again to get it home only to pay again for all the stuff they need, panels, power rails, fans and so on.

Today however this little dream came true.

Work was going to let builders dispose of a full comms cabinet. I saved it.

Took two loads in my poor freaking car to get it home. Its not a great photo, but the sidepanel is clearly sticking out the side of the boot by almost a meter….not to mention the rack itself.

Was a fun drive.

Got it home and put it back together. Removed, three doors, two side panels, two shelves, four rack rails, one big power rail and rackmounted saftey switch thing.

Hmmmm I wonder where these go?

So Ben moved out, mostly drama free.

- We did the change over of the phone into my name. Specifically mentioning that dsl codes will need to be preserved. No problem she said. – Zing, three days with no dsl and no dialtone.

I actually had to use my angry voice on them “oh thats ok, just call your isp and have them put back on” ……..”No I dont think so, firstly they will charge me for that, secondly it will restart my contract and thirdly this is your mistake not theirs or mine to fix”

I did the whole escalation thing, the manager calling me back thing, the manager ignoring me thing and then on my last call I got a girl who was like “oh I’m sorry about that, I’ll put in this form and fix it for you, I dont know why the other people didnt”

Fixed.

Had to make Ben come back and finish cleaning….yeah using the room after person x leaves is pretty usual. Blah. Using his room to pack stuff into. Its the only room in the house fucko cat hasn’t defiled.

Oh and I bought a house two days back to move said packed stuff into.

Loan is done and terms have been agreed upon.

$500 building inspection paid for.

$700 visit to a lawyer this morning gets the ball rolling.

Paperwork is sitting at home.

Just need to get my loan stuff done, hand over all my savings for a deposit and fees and its done.

Signed the offer. Paid the token deposit. Cheep, needs a lot of work though.
