Kitchen thing continues to be a huge fuckup. Really bored of the whole thing.
I do know though that the appliances were delivered to the kitchen guy on Thursday.
Upgraded in preperation for the new Battlefield bad company game this week.
$375 – Intel I7 930 CPU
$199 – Kingston DDR3 6GB
$239 – Gigabyte board with 2oz of copper!
From 15-30fps to 80-100, decent result.
Edit 05/04: BFBC2 is another botched EA release and really hard to play a full game + Supcom 2 is apparently shit.
$200 – HD5770
I had one of these, a old 300gb western digital start to fail this week, so I told WHS to remove it from the storage pool, 30 hours later (wtf?) I fed old beefcake two more 1TB drives.
21 fans in all keep him nice and cool.
While its super heavy I love this case, I bought it from Big Stu back in the day before he got involved with stupid macs and such, I’ve always wanted to paint it, perhaps add a fan blowhole, a window, dunno. Scared to mess it up though as I’d not be able to replace parts.
I bought it from a place in Melbourne Australia, (Bumper action) and got screwed on it but didn’t learn of the issues until after the 30 warranty was up.
The video issue started happening intermittently after a few weeks, I’d power cycle and it would be ok for awhile.
I believe I was screwed as upon closer inspection I find all the rollers are heavily worn, it was supposed to be reconditioned.
I bought and install one of these: http://www.brasington.org/arcade/mcm/ – Same issue.
Removed the roms – Same issue.
I’d been debating gutting it and turning it into a mame cab for some time and stalling as its a classic machine, 29 years old.
Yesterday I spent some time reading manuals, trolling news groups and adjusting pots inside a exposed, powered monitor.
Super dangerous. Chance of death if I touched the wrong thing.
Fixed it though. Now I’m getting new rollers made by my neighbour with a lathe
Old cat has been pissing in the house again.
I need somewhere safe to store her, and cats cant be outside at night.
So…
1. I found a spot down the side of my house, ripped up some pavers, left side already done before first pic.
Dug a bit, lined with paper and added soil.
2. Build a basic frame on one wall.
3. Built a wall with a door on one side. Frigging cat managed to get ontop somehow.
4. Added walls, a ramp and such to the cat hutch.
5. Added extra height to the wall.
6. Added a mesh wall to the other side, street facing. Looks fairly discrete.
7. Put in a cat door, in a window, leading outside.
Bonus shots:
Ramp into hutch.
Turns out locking a dog door, set in a glass window, is a bad idea, while the dog is running around excited. Who would have thought…
About a month ago I put in some water storage. Seems to be working ok so far.
The green barrel thing I bought, it came in a package with a nice low voltage pump and a few fittings. I put that in first. The big white square came later.
I found the downpipe full of crap as were the gutters, so I cleaned them and tapped into the downpipe.
Rain collects in the gutter and down the pipe.
The pipe empties into the bucket. Inside I have a ball of scrap shade cloth as a filter. further to this water needs to reach a certain level in the bucket before emptying into the drum so dirt can settle at the bottom. When overfull I have the outlet overflow into the bottom of the downpipe, I can connect a hose and something else and switch between using valves on the output, pressure is low though.
Anyway I tapped into the side of the barrel and connected it to the larger tank. Letting water find its on level. Yes I know they are different heights so I lose a lot of storage.
My plan for this is to close the valve on the large tank once the barrel is full and then pump the barrel into the larger tank. I can then open the valve when I need to to fill the barrel. Its a little annoying but it’ll work.
These things bolt into the rear on the tv, in my case I had to remove four bolts, placeholders I guess. Getting them on properly took some fiddling as the back of their tv is not completely flat. The hooks go over the top edge of the wall mount and the bottom clip in and lock into place with a slide bar.
3. The actual wall mount.
Yeah. I had some trouble. Having gotten it measured and the bottom bolts in, (the two in the ovals on the bottom row) I went to put the two top bolts in.
The heads snapped off both. making the holes unusable. All I could do was bolt in some plates along the same line and hope for the best. The tv was where I wanted it to be so I braced it as best I could and hoped for the best.
4. Finished.
I’m waiting to see if its going to fall off the wall before bothering to tidy cables, install rca wall points and such.
Still slowly unpacking, finishing painting and general maintance.
Get this, the house didnt come with a remote for the garage door so I order a couple.
I open up the control panel program the remotes to match the new code, they have little dip switches in both and go to test it. Nothing.
Not even any power.
Shit.
So I eventually work out that for the door to have power…..a FUCKING hall light switch inside the hall needs to be turned on INSIDE the house. Retards I tell you.
After working that one out I manage to put it from manual to remote by way of a paint roller on an extension pole (its quite hight and I have no ladder) the punchline is while it works upon closing it stops about 20cm from the bottom every time.
So I need to work out how to fix that, I read somewhere about a timing screw. Blah, another day.

Sink backing up again, badly and into the dishwasher. Really gross.
$150 for a plumber to snake from the sink to outside… it was full of fat and grease, completely full.
Also got a new shitter while they were out. $450.
* 6 weeks until I get the keys to my little peice of the ghetto.
* Bought a projector.
* Going back on graveyard shift. Its slightly more money and I really do prefer it.
* Trying to learn about painting, basic renovation stuff, aircon, rollershutters stuff like that on the INTERNET!
Not much else happening really. Ben bailed 5 months before the end of the lease as I wrote earlier, worked out ok, he threw down some cash a few odds and sods like a half decent fridge that we were going to throw out…..I fixed it..I think, it was leaking and running all the time. Turns out they like being cleaned. Who knew.
Slowly packing boxes of shite into his old room and getting ready to move. Hardly exciting I know.
